Ceramic coating in Wellington

Wellington is a hard city on paint. Salt comes in off the harbour, the southerly throws grit at everything, and half the city parks on the street because there's nowhere else to put a car. Add the UV we get on the clear days and a factory clear coat has a rough time of it.

That's the case for a coating. We correct the paint first — machine polishing out the swirls and wash marks that have built up — and then seal that finish in with a ceramic or graphene layer. From there, salt and road film sit on top of the coating instead of eating into your clear coat, and a wash takes half the time it used to.

We're twenty minutes up SH2 from the CBD at our Taita workshop, and plenty of our coating customers come from Karori, Newtown, Miramar, Johnsonville and the eastern suburbs. Coatings and correction are always done at the workshop — they need controlled light and a clean, dust-free space, and a driveway in Wellington wind is neither.

Drop the car off in the morning and we'll have it for the day, or two days for the premium ceramic and the graphene. Most of that time goes into the prep and correction, which is the part that decides how the finished car actually looks.
