Paint correction

Swirls out. Gloss back in.

Machine paint correction at our Taita workshop — single-stage and two-stage. On its own, or as the groundwork under a ceramic or graphene coating.

What it actually is

Here's the thing Most “dull” paint isn't worn out — it's scratched

Every wash, every dry, every brush through an automatic car wash leaves fine scratches in the clear coat. Thousands of them scatter the light, and the paint stops reflecting properly. Correction is machine polishing that levels those marks out so the surface reflects cleanly again. It's slow, careful work, and it's the difference between a car that's clean and a car that looks new.

How we work

We wash and decontaminate first, then read the paint — depth readings, a test section, and the right pad and compound for that panel. From there it's panel by panel under proper lighting, checking as we go. Nothing gets rushed and nothing gets hidden under a filler glaze.

  • Safe wash and full decontamination first
  • Test section so you can see the difference before we commit
  • Machine polished panel by panel under inspection lighting
  • Finished with protection so the work doesn't undo itself
Pricing

What it costs Two levels

Single-stage paint correction

One machine stage. Cuts back light swirls and wash marks and lifts the gloss — the right level for a car that's been reasonably looked after.

From$519

Book single-stage

Two-stage paint correction

A cutting pass followed by a refining pass. For deeper swirls, holograms from a previous polish, or older paint that needs real work.

From$749

Book two-stage

Correction is already included in every coating

If you're planning to protect the car anyway, book the coating instead — the correction work is built into all three packages, so you're not paying for it twice. Ceramic from $899, premium ceramic from $1,099, graphene from $1,499.

Correction prices are a starting point. What it costs depends on the size of the car, how bad the paint is and how far we need to take it — we confirm the quote after inspecting it, and we'll tell you if we don't think the extra stage is worth your money.

Correction questions

Worth knowing first

Do I need correction, or just a polish?

If your paint looks dull under sunlight or you can see fine circular scratches in direct light, that's swirls — and only machine correction takes them out. A hand polish will make it shinier for a fortnight. Correction actually removes the damage.

Single-stage or two-stage?

Single-stage is one machine pass, and it's the right call for a car that's been washed carefully and just needs the gloss lifted. Two-stage is a heavier cut followed by a refining pass — that's for deeper swirls, older or neglected paint, or where a previous polish has left holograms.

Will correction fix a deep scratch?

If you can catch it with a fingernail, it's through the clear coat and polishing won't remove it — we can improve how it looks, but not erase it. Anything lighter than that usually comes out. We'll be straight with you about what's realistic before we start.

Should I get a coating at the same time?

It's the sensible way to do it. Correction is what creates the finish; a coating is what keeps it. If you correct and don't protect, you're back where you started in a year or two. All three of our coating packages already include correction, so it usually works out better value to book one of those.

No obligation Let's have a look at your paint.
